Lake Keowee(more) is located primarily in Oconee County in the Northwestern corner of South Carolina frequently referred to as Upstate or Upcountry South Carolina. The nearest towns are: Seneca, Salem, Clemson, Walhalla and Westminster, South Carolina (All less than 10 miles from Keowee Lake). Highlands, Cashiers, Sapphire, and Brevard, North Carolina are all within 30 miles. Toccoa, Georgia is about 27 miles. (Click here to order a map of Keowee)

Lake Keowee was built by Duke Power Company in 1971 on the Keowee and Little Rivers. Keowee Lake provides a cooling reservoir for Duke's Oconee Nuclear Station and features 18,500 acres of "blue" water, 300 miles of shoreline, and great views of the Blue Ridge mountains. Full pool elevation is 800' msl. Maximum depth is 297' and the average depth is 54'. Lake Keowee stretches about 18 miles from downtown Seneca, SC to the Lake Jocassee dam. Most Lake Keowee Vacation Rentals are in mid to up scale lake front developments. Lake Keowee Vacation Rentals on the north end may be more isolated mountain homes while the homes on the southern end are "in town" and closer to restaurants and other services. Lake Keowee has 9 public access boat ramps and one full service Marina.

Homes are privately owned and most are frequently used by their owners. As such they are fully equipped to suit the owners needs, therefore furnishings and equipment will vary.
